Lump

Lump was and is a celebrity. The dachshund was born in 1957 and died on 29 March 1973. His first owner was the successful photographer David Douglas Duncan. One day Duncan visited a friend in Spain together with Lump. Lump was so enraptured by this man that Duncan had no choice but to give him the dog. Later he reported that Lump had decided to leave him.

Lump's new owner was considered a difficult person, but also a great dog lover. He was so enthusiastic about Lump, however, that he made many drawings of him, which can be seen in a museum in Barcelona, among other places. Reprints of the drawing "Chien" still adorn the walls of the homes of art and dog lovers today. Art historians even describe Lump as the most important model in art history. Duncan later reported that the two were soulmates and dedicated a book of photographs to them. Ten days after Lump's death, his owner also died.

Lump was Pablo Picasso's dog.
