Eyes and ears when bathing - What do I have to pay attention to?

The eyes

Does your dog have a tendency to sticky eyes? Then cleaning is necessary. Sterile pads are suitable for this. Specialist shops offer suitable cleaning products for dogs' eyes. You can get advice in our stores. However, do not try to clean the area around the eyes with pressure.

The ears

Ears that are standing up are less susceptible to disease because they are better ventilated. However, dirt and foreign objects can get in. If this happens, your dog will often shake his head and scratch his ears. For dirt that has penetrated, for example after a mud bath, there are suitable cleaners in our stores. Caution: The dog will then shake the dirt out.

You should only remove foreign bodies if you can reach them with your fingers without any problems. The vet is responsible for everything else. Never use tweezers or other objects. This is very uncomfortable for the dog and any defensive movement can cause serious injury.

Can I rinse the dog's ears with water? NO

Is it allowed to clean dog ears with cotton swabs? NO

What am I allowed to do then?

However, we are allowed to clean the auricle with a damp cloth and to drip ear cleaner for dogs into the ear.

Attention: The shaking of your dog's head can also be an indication of an ear disease that needs treatment and is very painful for your four-legged friend. So don't wait, call your vet.
