Dog meeting cancelled? Do something new ? Tip for the adventurous

 Always follow your nose!

You need: Dog harness, you: from level 2 sports shoes, from level 3 belly strap for you to buckle the leash, good local knowledge or GPS (please do not leave paths).

In this variation of cross-country running, which is now even a competition discipline, you let the dog decide where the excursion goes. This works best in rural areas, but it can also be done in cities.

Level 1: Let the dog go first, you stay behind and discover your dog's favourite places or go on an exciting discovery tour.

Child with you? A little guessing game before each turn: Where will the dog go?

Variation: The child decides: Where to turn (several children: take turns)

Level 2: On farm, field and forest paths, at a brisk walking pace or in intervals, alternately jogging and walking slowly.

Level 3: Warm-up and "let go chapel" The dog sets the pace and direction. Only for experienced recreational athletes. Attention: Athletic dogs can reach a considerable speed.

The dog doesn't understand what to do? Never mind, first take a familiar route and then deviate at a suitable point. Wait until the dog has discovered something that interests him. Let him run ahead.

Tip! Use a harness for this game that you really only use here. If you repeat the game, the dog will associate the harness with the game and you will not jeopardise the dog's ability to walk on a leash? (This procedure has proven successful in the training of search dogs).
